1. Download
You need AmneziaWG with AWG 3.1 support: version 3.1.4 from Google Play or our AmneziaWG-3.1.apk (Android 7.0 or later). When installing the APK, Android asks to allow installation from this source — grant it. If AmneziaWG is already installed, update it from where you got it: versions before 3.1 cannot open AWG 3.1 configs.
Our APK is the official build of the GitHub release v3.1.20260814. Its settings show “AmneziaWG for Android v3.1.20260813” — that is expected. If AmneziaWG 3.1.4 is already installed from Google Play, you do not need the APK: Android will not install it over a newer version (“App not installed”).
AWG 1.0 configs from the “AmneziaWG” tab keep working in the new version, and that tab stays in your dashboard. Routers (Keenetic, OpenWrt and others) do not support AWG 3.1 yet — keep using the “AmneziaWG” tab there.
AmneziaVPN 5.0.1.5 or newer works too — Google Play or GitHub, Android 9 or later.

2. Select region
Open your dashboard (a computer is handier: you will scan the QR code with the phone) and select the “AWG 3.1” technology — the button next to “AmneziaWG”. While AWG 3.1 is in beta, only beta testers see this button.
In the “Connect to server” block expand the region you need: North America, Europe, Asia & Middle East, exUSSR or South America. The closer the region, the lower the ping.
|
3. Select country
Press “Connect” under the flag you need — the server is activated and moves to the “Current connections” block. Activate several at once: one server is not enough, and switching between ready tunnels is faster than returning to the dashboard. Servers on the “AWG 3.1” tab are activated separately from the “AmneziaWG” tab.
|
4. Download config files
Every activated server has two buttons: “Config file” for the configuration file and “QR-Code” for the same config as a code. On a phone the QR is easier: open the dashboard on a computer and press “QR-Code” for the server you need.
An AWG 3.1 QR code is denser than usual: if the camera does not pick it up, zoom the page in or add the server from the file (step 5). Configs from the “AmneziaWG” tab do not work with AWG 3.1 servers, and vice versa.

5. Configuration import
Open AmneziaWG on the phone, tap “+” → “Scan from QR code” and point the camera at the QR code on the computer screen. Without a second device, open the dashboard on the phone, press “Config file”, then in AmneziaWG tap “+” → “Import from file or archive” and pick the downloaded file (named like mad_awg3_1.conf). Repeat for the other servers — we recommend adding at least five so there is something to switch to.
In AmneziaVPN a server is added from the file: “+” → under “Other connection options” pick “File with connection settings” → the .conf file → “Connect”.

6. Connection
Flip the switch next to the tunnel you need. Android asks once for VPN permission — confirm it, and a VPN icon appears in the status bar. Switching between servers is done with the same switches, without leaving the app.
AWG 3.1 is in beta. If the tunnel is on but websites do not open, try another server. If none works, switch back to the “AmneziaWG” tab for now and tell our support which server and which app (with its version) you used.
